Jin Wu Koon’s roaming lion will be making its way through Market City performing traditional Lunar New Year blessings at various retailers. The lion will also be handing out lucky red envelopes to customers.
Lion Dance performers mimic a lion’s gestures and emotions to bring luck, fortune, and prosperity to the places where they perform. They will perform their traditional custom of “cai qing” whereby the lion plucks a head of lettuce containing a red-packet hung above the retailer. The red packet contains money which is a token of appreciation for the lion performers.

The God of Wealth, also known as Chai Shen Yeh is one of the most prominent Chinese symbols of prosperity, wealth, and good fortune.
Legend says that every Lunar New Year, Tsai Shen descends from heaven to visit his followers who seek his blessings for a prosperous year.
His image can be found in various art forms, usually depicted as a true god with many attendants who serve as bearers for his belongings that include gold ingots, coins, jewels, and foods.
As a respected god of wealth, Cai Shen is honoured during the Chinese New Year in return for a happy, affluent life.
The God of Wealth will be handing out red envelopes to lucky shoppers.
